Salvation Army Officers Seminar, October 1943, Indianapolis

During a seminar in October of 1943, a group of men and women Salvation Army officers gathered on the steps of the Indiana State Soldiers & Sailors Monument on Monument Circle. The Salvation Army has been in Indianapolis since March 1889 when it began ministering to the poor and homeless by providing food, clothing, shelter, and spiritual guidance. Today the organization has expanded its services to provide drug and alcohol treatment, homeless shelters, domestic violence programs, food pantries, youth activities, day camps, and senior citizens programs.The original nitrate negative was copied with funds provided by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission in 1990.
