Nowadays, ‘career education’ is widely implemented in schools in Japan. The purpose of career education is fostering children's basic skills and knowledge of work, and one of the characteristics of career education is the ministerial co-operation in the process of policy making. The beginning of such co-operation is the one between educational administration and labor administration at the end of 1990s, and by virtue of the introduction of the Period of Integrated Study, such co-operation has occurred. This paper shows the detail of the co-operation, by focusing on the characteristics of the Period of Integrated Study that enabled labor administration to cooperate with educational administration
