Catalogue to accompany Espinal’s exhibition of sculptures incorporating found furniture and containers. Kerkham’s essay draws attention to how the miniature architectural spaces within these works appeal to the viewer’s imagination. The author also considers the “emptiness” of the sculptures in relation to notions of expectation/desire and public/private space. The catalogue also includes a transcribed conversation between Espinal and Fleming, in which the following topics are discussed: origins of the works, connections to earlier projects, the influence of architecture and the artist’s creative process.
