A major publication made to accompany a touring exhibition of works by 21 Canadian-based artists who received the "Saidye Bronfman Award for Excellence in the Crafts" between 1977-1996. Flood's reflections on the history of Canadian craft focus on activities of the Canadian Handicrafts Guild and the role played by museums. Elder's analysis of selected artists' works draws attention to contemporary craft activity throughout Canada. He also discusses the relationship between functional objects and aesthetics.
