Games and Strategies in Economics

This course will develop the notions of what constitutes a game, how we define an equilibrium to a game, and how our representations of and solutions to games change when we introduce some complications—notably sequential (rather than simultaneous) moves by players in a game, as well as incompleteness in the information available to the players. This development of the theory will draw on the textbook and supplementary readings (which will be posted on Moodle). There will be regular problem sets on this material, as well as a midterm exam and a final exam. The midterm will be a take-home exam, distributed on Thursday, October 23, and due at the beginning of class on Tuesday, October 30. (The amount of time you may work on the midterm will be limited.)
