As described by International Association for the Study of Pain, pain is "an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage or described in terms of such damage." Pain can be manifested as acute-short term or chronic-long term. Acute pain is more treatable than chronic pain, and because of the inadequacy of treatments for chronic pain, people turn to complementary and alternative methods of treatment. The present study provides further research on healing tones, a form of alternative treatment to chronic pain.
