Queensland University Extension, 1893-1899

The minute book of the Queensland University Extension contains copies of the constitution, newspaper cuttings, letters, circulars, tickets, invitations, reports and student results of exams from 1893 and 1894. The University Extension movement was established to promote the movement toward the establishment of a university in Queensland. The movement was affiliated initially with the University of Sydney and later with the University of Melbourne, and offered graded, qualifying courses for prospective students wishing to attend those post secondary institutions. The meetings during this time period were chaired on various occasions by John L. Woolcock, Sir Samuel W. Griffith, Dr. J. Thomson and Reginald H. Roe. Other members of Council mentioned during this time period include Mary H. Foott, Miss Hunt, Miss B. R. Burdorff, Littleton E. Groom, George Scott, Ada Ellwood, Sydney B. J. Skertchly.
