Current literature regarding Australians’ attitudes towards refugees and asylum seekers has highlighted negative attitudes towards both groups. Consistently, intergroup contact has been a factor found to reduce prejudice and negative intergroup attitudes. Intergroup contact may also affect the categorisation process and influence judgments.
