Jay E. Root

Seated in the Bretzman chair and holding a cigar, Jay E. Root posed for this portrait in 1929. The customer card listed him at 138 East 16th Street in Indianapolis. The city directory showed him at a previous address of 130 West 30th Street and working as an inspector. The census record for 1930 revealed he was at the 16th Street address living as a lodger in the home of Homer and Margaret Greig.
