Seated in a chair, Mary McConnell had her portrait taken by Charles Bretzman in 1928. The customer card listed her at 37 N. Beville in Indianapolis and it's noted that it was an "Xmas surprise." The city directory shows Mary at the same address and she worked as a stenographer at the State Life Insurance Company. Census records for 1930 confirm that information and list her age as 23 and she was living at home with her mother at the time. This image is a preservation copy made from an unstable original nitrate negative.
