The Vogue opened in June of 1938 to much fanfare. Built by former vaudevillian Carl Niesse, who worked for the Fox theatre chain, the state-of-the-art facility touted 800 seats, air conditioning and two box offices. Niesse retained ownership until the mid-1950s. The theatre saw a period of decline after its initial heyday. In 1977, it opened as a nightclub featuring concerts and dancing. The facade has been returned to its original Art Moderne style.Image courtesy broadripplehistory.org Use of this image is restricted to projects related to Destination Indiana.
