Dethridge was generous with her time and talent and performed benefit concerts for various causes in the Richmond area. These included fundraisers for the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1933, for a woman’s medical treatment ca. 1937, and in 1953 she sang to raise funds for the construction of the Mary E.
