During World War II, the fieldhouse became barracks for the Navy Signal School and the Army Air Corps. In June 1942, 800 sailors arrived to train as signalmen, and in March 1943, 700 air cadets moved in. They shared the facility for 2 months before the signalmen graduated. This was the first time the Army and Navy shared quarters, khaki on one side and blue on the other. The fieldhouse supplied bunks space, a mess facility, and a dispensary.Use of this image is restricted to projects related to Destination Indiana.
