Feeling growing pains, in 1920 Butler University began talks to acquire Fairview Park in the north-central part of the city. It encompassed some 260 acres and included gardens, woods, the Indianapolis Canal, and the White River. The new campus incorporated these features, creating a beautiful setting for the university. Called the Fairview Campus, it was named for the park it replaced.Use of this image is restricted to projects related to Destination Indiana.
