Whenever a tool or piece of machinery was needed in the shop his uncles made it if they could. They discussed ideas and methods with the little boy so eager to be part of their mechanical world. They taught him to plan, measure, create, and polish things perfectly in wood or metal. At age 10 his father built a workshop for him at the back of their house, complete with machines and tools. Ralph began spending much of his spare time there.Use of this image is restrictred to projects related to Destination Indiana.
