Grid monitoring is an active research area, targeting both grid resources monitoring and application monitoring. Most monitoring systems aim at providing general information. However, distributed applications can benefit from a monitoring and visualization tool specifically tuned to their specific needs. This paper discusses the case of BlobSeer, a large-scale distributed storage system. The work relies on the MonALISA framework to collect the general and specific monitoring data. In order to meet BlobSeer requirements, the visualization tool has to deal with its large-scale design, while still being able to deliver a detailed and meaningful image of the data stored
