International audienceWhile streaming traffic is today overflowing networks, leading to major disputes beween the various actors of the content delivery chain, we show in this paper that distributed caching in eyeball networks is an efficient means of reducing load on critical links in the network. To prove this statement, we perform trace driven simulations exploiting traffic measurements from the IP backbone network operated by Orange in France. We then describe how distributed caching can be implemented and we propose an associated business model
