International audienceThis paper describes the SWALIS (Still Water Low Incidence Scattering) radar system. This radar is dedicated to oceanography and hydrology applications which are based on near nadir incidence angles. Our first measurements have provided valuable data for investigating the backscattering signal with respect to the illuminated area. Some processing tools are developed and first statistical analysis shows that the SWALIS sensor demonstrates high potential for airborne radar measurements in Ka-band. © 2021 EuMA
