This thesis explores the ferroelectric properties of organic ferroelectric Croconic Acid (CA) in the thin film form from the point of view of its application in nanoelectronic and spintronic devices. With the largest room temperature spontaneous ferroelectric polarization among all organic ferroelectric materials and also at the level of some of the inorganic ferroelectrics, CA has unbounded potential for applications. We study the ferroelectric properties of polycrystalline films on spintronically relevant electrode surfaces such as on gold and cobalt surfaces and show that ferroelectricity of CA is robust on cobalt surface. Further, we study the polarization reversal properties at the nanoscopic scale with in-situ piezoresponse force micr...
