Development of AIDS diagnostic kits

AIDS, Which is Caused by HIV, Become big Social Problems in all Over the World. Ever since the cause of the AIDS has been identified by Robert C.Gallo and Luc Momtagnier, lots efferts were put onto the developmetn of vaccins in these fields. So, it is our urgent problem to develop the diagnostic kits in order to prevent the diffusion of AIDS in this society which has become one of the big social health problems in these days. The diagnostic tests already developy developed to detect HIV antibodies in infected patients include enzyme-liked immunoassay, Western blotting method, radioimmune precipitation assays. Such procedures are relatively slow and time consuming that it usually takes 3-5 hours. In many urgent cases, we need to diagnize within few minutes, to check whether the patient have been infected with HIV or not. For these reasons, we developed a simple qualitative procedure using small volumes of whole blood that would take 2 min or less. We generated nonagglutinating monoclonal antibody to human red blood cells in order to make simple and rapid AIDS diagnostic kits using one or two drops of human whole blood. After complete purification of immunodominant region of HIV-gp120, 41, gag, we will use avove mentioned nonagglutinating monoclonal antibody in order to cross-link with purified HIV-epitopes. These diagnostic reagent will be used for quick and mass screening of bloods in order to check wethere the blood is HIV positive or not.과기처에서 시행한 특정연구개발사업의 연구보고
