Epidemiological studies point to diarrhea as the second most common disease in foal breeding systems, behind only respiratory disorders. In Brazil, studies of diarrhea associated with infection by enteropathogens in foals are limited and highlight the mechanisms of enteric co-infection and identified the main virulence factors of some pathogens.
