In 1931, Carl Crow published the first Newspaper Directory of China ((Carl Crow (1883-1945) was an American, Missouri-trained journalist and pioneering advertising agent in Shanghai. He contributed with Millard - another prominent American journalist - to the creation of the China Press (Dalubao) and other American newspapers.
