In the Bisotun inscription, Darius builds the tale showing how he came on the throne by referring to a mythological model. A progressive descent towards the evil begins with Bardiya’s murder by Cambyses. The resulting lie propagates: Cambyses denies this murder and Gaumâta appears, who claims being Bardiya. Cambyses, in turn, dies, but Gaumâta stays isolated, because the army doesn’t know what to think about him. The exit of this period of lie is made possible thanks to Darius, who says that Cambyses was one of his relatives. He restores the religious partnership of Persia with Ahuramazdâ.
