La imagen que del Portugal de Salazar esbozó la prensa afecta a los rebeldes durante la Guerra Civil española es el objeto de este artículo. La inmediata ayuda lusitana motivó un enorme agradecimiento en los medios de comunicación, y junto con Italia y Alemania, recibió el título de «nación amiga». En el caso luso, los lazos de vecindad y las simpatías por el corporativismo de Salazar se destacaron especialmente.
