This volume includes ten early 2000s articles discussing the writings of Walter Pater especially paying attention to the then neglected texts on Greco-Roman mythology, on ‘Joachim du Bellay’, on the enigmatic and programmatic ‘Diaphanéitè’, or on Plato and Platonism. Marius The Epicurean and ‘The School of Giorgione’ are also discussed. All studies pay a necessary tribute to the diversity of Pater’s interests from Greco-Roman and Renaissance to Victorian art, from medieval and French literature of the 16th century to philosophy and its history, from mythology to essay.
