Contemporary options and future prospects to treat epilepsy

Departamentul Pediatrie, USMF „Nicolae Testemiţanu”, Clinica NeuropediatrieEpilepsy is a disease commonly seen with a complex spectrum of etiologic factors. This fact is evidenced by the multitude of classifications used at the moment. In the course of the last 15 years, new antiepileptic drugs appeared on the international market, offering to the neurologists and neuropsychiatrists the opportunity of choosing the optimum antiepileptic therapy in accordance with the clinical aspect of the disease. This article has as objects a brief review of the new antiepileptic drugs, their rational use in mono and polytherapy, as well as some clinical considerations and clinical difficulties implied by the use of the current antiepileptic arsenal. The article will review current therapeutic strategies suportive and pharmacological classification in the context of epilepsy, based on data from the literature, and will take a look at the possible contributions of new medicines, and farmacogenetic advances in the treatment of epilepsy in the future. Epilepsia este o boală comună cu o gamă largă de factori etiologici. Acest lucru este demonstrat de o serie de clasificări utilizate la moment. În ultimii 15 ani pe piața internațională farmaceptică, au apărut noi anticonvulsivante care permit medicilor de a alege tratamentul optim antiepileptic în funcție de tipul de manifestare bolii. Scopul acestei lucrări este de a examina noi metode de tratament cu medicamente antiepileptice și alegerea de droguri din mono- sau politerapie, utilizarea lor rațională în arsenalul terapeutic actual și dificultăți în utilizarea acestuia.
