This paper briefly describes how the subprime mortgage crisis emerged. General observations are made concerning the effect of the crisis on the economy as a whole, but the focal point explains how women and minorities have been affected. To illustrate this point, areas of investigation include predatory and discriminatory lending. Furthermore, this document provides data illustrating the financial impact the subprime mortgage crisis has had on different minority groups compared to non-minority groups.
