Mixed and single anion exchange resins were tested for the removal of organic and inorganic DBPs precursors from water. Formation of total organic halides (TOX) was more reduced from wastewater effluents treated by the mixed resin system. Doubling the resin dose resulted in less than 10e20% improvement in DBP precursors’ removal.Both organic and inorganic precursors play important roles in the formation and speciation of disinfection by-products (DBPs).
