Methods to use or misuse of materials clearly influence the future of materials. Therefore it is necessary to realize that inter-related global problems are interconnected and very disturbing about energy use and environmental controls where each have a substantial 'material dimension' and inevitable. This paper aims to explore what are the criteria can use to asses whether a material sustainable or not, beside materials-potential information existing in the area of East Java especially for about fourth material. More specifically local material of bamboo will be explored more comprehensively in terms of their potential.
