The purpose of this study was to gain a more in-depth knowledge and understanding of the dating applications Tinder and Grindr and their structure regarding accented information and identity codes. I intended to gain an understanding of human perception and how this is applied to our modern dating applications. The main focus of the thesis was information hierarchies and visual hierarchies and how people perceive various visual elements. Another relevant aspect was the applications profile settings and self- presentation on the web. The method of the study was a qualitative content analysis with a deductive approach.
