La masía catalana en el Ampurdán: tradición constructiva: historia, técnicas y aplicación actual

This research work consists of an investigation of the history, techniques and current applications of masia catalana in Empordà. A Masia is a type of building that has been strongly connected to the immediate surroundings and to the tradition involved in it. This construction reflects the necessities of the constant changes which have made this building to be considered a very characteristic building of the catalonian landscape. In this research I focus on the history of this long-established construction and the techniques that were used traditionally. Soon after attending these topics I will make a contrastive análisis of different solutions that have been applied to current restorations to three of these buildings. The aim of this project is to enhance knowledge of this type of construction in order to be able to evaluate the examples of comparison. This way I will get to have the necessary criteria to know whether some interventions are adequate or not in a hypothetical future reform project.Award-winnin
