Psychological challenges faced by nurses during covid19

The world is in a destructive phase, and governments, hospitals, doctors and it is testing nurses like never. The coronavirus 2019 has spread at a rapid pace, making it difficult to adapt to the changes. Hospitals are overcrowded, and the pandemic has had the most significant impact on frontline workers. The thesis aims to discover the psychological challenges nurses have faced during the pandemic and determine their coping strategies. The purpose of the thesis is to promote psychological well-being in health care, especially of nurses. The authors used qualitative method in this thesis. Data was collected via interviews based on three main themes with four chosen participants. The interviews were transcribed and coded according to the themes using inductive content analysis Findings show that nurses felt stress and anxiety due to factors such as lack of human resources, insufficient workers, drastic changes in workplaces, and a lack of knowledge about the virus. The psychological pressure has resulted in nurses wanting to change careers. Nurse managers could focus more on the psychological well-being of nurses. Professionals of psychological well-being could reach out to nurses rather than waiting for nurses to reach out to them amid this chaos. Nurses can also be provided further education on coping with increased workload and psychological challenges that come with it
