Oregon went dry on January 1, 1916. The prohibition amendment to the Oregon Constitution was voted on and passed in Oregon on December 3, 1914, five full years before the passing of the 18th Amendment to the United States constitution making 1914 a watershed event in the history of the state Oregon, and in the history of the Oregon state Women\u27s Christian Temperance Union, or W.C.T.U. In this thesis I propose to spotlight the women of Oregon vis-a-vis their participation in the Woman\u27s Christian Temperance Union and to examine their role in the link between prohibition legislation and the women\u27s temperance movement in Oregon
