This paper describes for a necessity of new approach to the web based-map service for the University of Edinburgh. An interactive online map is developed to implement the feature of the static map in the web site of the university. The Google Map API (Application Programming Interface) as the approach of producing the interactive map is introduced; besides, the reasons of applying the Google Map API rather other the Web Map Service are: it is more straightforward, the response is faster and more flexible. The outcome of the project in this paper is a web page that provides the location information of accommodation buildings and the relevant driving direction.
