The methods for estimating the histamine content of blood and tissue were studied and a simpler procedure adopted.The histamine content of normal mice was determined and it was found that over seventy per cent of all the histamine in the body was contained in the skin.Large doses of histamine were injected intravenously in mice and the clearance from the whole animal studied. The time of half clearance from the whole body was one and a half hours.From the large part of the dose present in the skin and gut immediately after injection,it appeared that histamine was rapidly taken up by the tissues.A part of a large dose of histamine,given to mice,was excreted in the urine, the faeces contained little more than was normally present...
