Pneumonia has long held a place in the forefront of fatal diseases. . Despite the many investigations which have been carried out regarding its etiology and pathology, the therapeutic problem has remained one of pressing importance. The absence of any definite specific form of treatment has made pneumonia one of that long list of conditions in which the doctor could do little more than deal with the symptoms as they arose.
