1. Conodonts are rare in the Scottish Carboniferous Limestone but are slightly more abundant in the lower Dart of the Scottish Millstone Grit.2. Seventeen genera and 53 species (including one new genus, Dalryella, and 21 new species) of conodonts are recognised and described.3. Apart from Gnathodus carinatus, confined to the Lower Limestone Group, and G. smithi; indicative of the upper part of the Upper Limestone Group, conodonts have been found unsuitable for stratigraphic discrimination within the Carboniferous Limestone.4.
