ABSTRACTSponges are not only rich in secondary metabolites, but also have the ability to synthesize various compounds, such as alkaloids, peptides, and terpenoids. These compounds are reported to have activity as antitumor, antifungal, antibacterial, and also as an antioxidant. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the marine animal sponge Leucetta chagosensis. This research is a laboratory experiment with testing of the ethanol extract of sponge Leucetta chagosensis with the DPPH [1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl method] to analyze antioxidant activity using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with a wavelength of 517 nm.
