Merryl Sykes used a qualitative, in-depth study to consider the benefits of early childhood workers undertaking industry-specific training. She presented evidence and interpretations on the manner in which workers have reacted to the introduction of mandatory accreditation, examining the participants’ views and perspectives within real contextual conditions. Findings encourage the early childhood sector to look beyond mandatory accreditation as the sole indicator of childcare quality
