Internationalization of the Chinese renminbi

The subject of the diploma thesis is the analysis of the internationalization of the Chinese renminbi. This thesis identifies the gradual development of the exchange rate regime and the convertibility of RMB from its origin to the present time. The thesis analyzes the general conditions necessary for the internationalization of the currency, focusing on which of the conditions are met and which are not. The biggest obstacles are, in particular, the incomplete convertibility of the financial account and the insufficient robustness of Chinese financial markets. The thesis also describes the current international position of the renminbi using individual indicators. This thesis also seeks to identify the further direction of the RMB, especially through the Belt and Road initiative, which may have far-reaching implications for the internationalization of the renminbi.Předmětem diplomové práce je analýza internacionalizace čínského renminbi. Tato práce identifikuje postupný vývoj kurzového režimu a směnitelnosti RMB od jeho vzniku po současnost. Práce rozebírá obecné podmínky nutné k internacionalizaci měny, přičemž se zaměřuje na to, které z podmínek renminbi splňuje a které nikoliv. Největší překážky jsou zejména neúplná směnitelnost finančního účtu a nedostatečná robustnost čínských finančních trhů. V práci je dále pomocí jednotlivých ukazatelů popsáno aktuální mezinárodní postavení renminbi. Práce se také snaží identifikovat další směřování RMB, zejména prostřednictvím iniciativy Belt and Road, která může mít dalekosáhlé dopady na internacionalizaci renminbi
