In this study, we reported the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of endangered species, Lutra lutra. The complete mitogenome was 16,537 bp in length in 13 protein coding gene, 22 transfer RNA, 2 ribosomal RNA and 1 control region. The nucleotide base composition of 32.2% A, 27.5% C, 14.5% G and 25.8% T with A-T content higher than C-G content. Phylogenetic analysis based on 13 protein coding genes of Mustelidae showed that supporting the existing 8 subfamilies. Lutra lutra is closely related to L. sumatrana and Lutrinae and Ictonychinae are grouped. The genetic resources of Korean Lutra lutra obtained from this study will provide a variety of genetic studies for Eurasian otters
