The influence of specific adsorbents (zeolites and molecular sieve carbons) on the gas separation properties of polymeric membranes has been studied. Two main parameters, the pore size and the hydrophilic character of the zeolite, are investigated with respect to their effect on the overall membrane performance in the separation of carbon dioxide / methane and of oxygen / nitrogen. A model has been developed which describes the permeabilities of the components as a function of the zeolite volume fraction in the membrane
