Future electrical distribution systems will experience a mega-scale deployment of distributed energy resources (DERs) coupled within various forms of microgrids which will be required to be integrated into some ways. Their emerging complex interactions will not only pose a significant challenge in integrating both homogeneous and heterogeneous control solutions but also create an opportunity to optimize their operations as the whole.
