During the last couple of years allergy for acrylates is encountered more often amongst nail technicians and beauticians. This is caused by the increased use of acrylate nails. In general type 4 reactions occur. Because of this rise in prevalence, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (2-HEMA) was recently added to the European baseline series for epicuta-neous testingas a marker for contact dermatitis to (meth) acrylates. Hereby, acrylate allergy will be detected more often and at an earlier stage and thus management of the patient can then also be initiated earlier
