In the search for the reduction of energy use to enable Dutch greenhouse horticulture to be producing fossilfree in the future, the 2SaveEnergy greenhouse has already proved helpful. In doing so, it proved possible to achieve a major saving on heat demand compared to commercial greenhouses without having negative effects on production. In order to further reduce the heat demand, the insulation of the greenhouse has been increased with a double aluminized screen. The application of a heat pump to dehumidify the greenhouse air has also reduced the latent heat loss.
