Seismic experiments on future Mars exploration missions, and the instrumentation required for their performances are reported. Advances in microcomputer techniques of which have made feasible the processing of data prior to transmission to earth are discussed along with experience with the Viking hardware and software as related to future experiments. Sensor techniques are briefly mentioned
