Forecast and climate simulation experiments were conducted with a medium mesh (8 degrees of latitude by 10 degrees of longitude) 7 layer climate model. The outputs emphasized are: (1) monthly mean forecasts for the months of October 1976 through February 1977 generated from global initial conditions for the first day of each month; and (2) a model climatology generated by running the model for five simulated years from one set of initial conditions (1 December 1967) and averaging the 5 outputs for each of the 12 calendar months
