A revised instrument, the Group Environmental Questionnaire (GEQ), based on the theory of group cohesion by Widmeyer, Carron and Brawley (1985), was assessed for reliability and validity using a first-year MBA class as the subject pool. Construct validity of this instrument was assessed by means of a confirmatory factor analysis and supported two of the four dimensions of group cohesion proposed by the GEQ authors (i.e. task and social). Criterion validity of the revised GEQ was supported when compared with respondent\u27s subjective evaluations of their work groups. Internal consistency of the instrument was very favorable.
