Recent studies have revealed the “double visage” of Ptolemaic Egypt’s society. The multiculturalism appears differently according to the different sources. Greek documents describe Greco-macedonian civil servants whereas the Egyptian sources describe indigenous priests. And yet, in several cases, these documents are two different representations of the same person.
