Abstract–. Since the research done by Louis Gernet, we know that objects carry some further values than just material and technical qualities. Archaeological remains, and particularly prestigious items, convey symbolic speeches depending on the archaeological context. During the Archaic period, some prestigious offerings dedicated in Greek sanctuaries recall, by their real or symbolic use, the archaic elite way of life. Some of these artefacts were displayed in the Homeric epics, a poetry used as The Reference to the Past, all along Antiquity. Thus, those dedications carried the values of “ archaism”.
